The FCIA is an international organization of manufacturers, systems integrators, developers, systems vendors, industry professionals, and end users. The FCIA is committed to delivering a broad base of Fibre Channel infrastructure to support a wide array of industry applications within the mass storage and IT-based arenas. FCIA Working Groups focus on specific aspects of the technology that target both vertical and horizontal markets, including storage, video, networking and SAN Management.

Emulex is active in the FCIA on several committees and task forces, as well as having representation on the Board of Directors. Emulex activities in the FCIA include:

The Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO) is an independent, non-profit organization developed by and for leading industry companies.

Officially formed in July 2004 by incorporating the previous Serial ATA Working Group, the SATA-IO provides the industry with guidance and support for implementing the SATA specification. The standardized SATA specification replaces a 15 year old technology with a high speed serial bus supporting up to 10 years of expected future.

Members of the SATA-IO have the ability to influence, or directly contribute to the development of the SATA specifications.

The Storage Bridge Bay Working Group, Inc. (SBB) is a nonprofit corporation formed by industry members to develop and distribute specifications standardizing portions of storage enclosures. Targeting storage system providers wanting faster time-to-market, lower development costs, and flexible storage solutions, the SBB Specification defines mechanical, electrical and internal interfaces between a storage enclosure and the electronics cards that give the subsystem its personality or function.

Emulex actively attends SBB meetings and participates in the associations marketing committee as part of our mission to supply embedded storage solutions to storage providers.

The SCSI Trade Association (STA) was formed in 1996 to promote the use and understanding of small computer system interface ("SCSI") parallel interface technology. Recently, STA has helped promote the newly developed Serial Attached SCSI protocol, and closely coordinates with the Serial ATA working group to ensure compatibility.

Emulex actively attends STA member meetings as part of our mission to supply embedded storage switches to storage providers ­ regardless of technology. Emulex is active in the STA on several committees and task forces, as well as having representation on the Board of Directors. Emulex activities in the STA include:

Formed in 1992, the PCI-SIG is the industry organization chartered to develop and manage the PCI standard. With over 900 members, the PCI-SIG effectively places ownership and management of the PCI specifications in the hands of the developer community. A Board of Directors comprised of nine people, each elected by the membership, leads the PCI-SIG.

The PCI-SIG is chartered to:

• Maintain the forward compatibility of all PCI revisions or addenda
• Contribute to both the establishment of PCI as an industry-wide standard and to the technical longevity of the PCI architecture
• Maintain the PCI specification as a simple, easy-to-implement, stable technology that supports the spirit of its design
• The PCI-SIG fulfills its charter by continuing to promote innovation and evolve the PCI standard to meet the industry's needs. Through interoperability testing, technical support, seminars and industry events, the PCI-SIG enables its members to generate competitive and quality products.

The goal of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is to make the Internet work better.

The mission of the IETF is to produce high quality, relevant technical and engineering documents that influence the way people design, use, and manage the Internet in such a way as to make the Internet work better. These documents include protocol standards, best current practices, and informational documents of various kinds.

The IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee develops Local Area Network standards and Metropolitan Area Network standards. The most widely used standards are for the Ethernet family, Token Ring, Wireless LAN, Bridging and Virtual Bridged LANs. An individual Working Group provides the focus for each area.

Since 1993, TSANet (Technical Support Alliance Network) has been helping technology companies achieve higher levels of customer satisfaction through streamlined collaborative multivendor support. As the largest multivendor support alliance in the high technology industry, TSANet provides its members with an important communications link to each other that ultimately benefits customers by resolving multivendor service issues more efficiently.

As a member of TSANet, Emulex will work collaboratively with other alliance vendors to more efficiently resolve servicing issues and ultimately provide an enhanced level of customer service.

T10 is a Technical Committee of the International Committee on Information Technology Standards (INCITS – www.incits.org). INCITS is accredited by, and operates under rules that are approved by, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI – www.ansi.org). These rules are designed to insure that voluntary standards are developed by the consensus of industry groups. INCITS develops Information Processing System standards, while ANSI approves the process under which they are developed and publishes them.

T10 operates under INCITS and is responsible for SCSI Storage Interfaces. Its principal work is the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), including the family of SCSI-3 projects. T10 is responsible for SCSI architecture standards (SAM, SAM-2, and SAM-3), which SCSI, SAS, Fibre Channel, SSA, and IEEE 1394 use. T10 is also responsible for many SCSI command set standards (e.g., SPC, SPC-2, SPC-3, SBC, SBC-2, SSC, SSC-2, SSC-3, MMC, MMC-2, MMC-3, MMC-4, RBC, etc.). These standards are used by almost all modern I/O interfaces, including SCSI, SAS, Fibre Channel, SSA, IEEE 1394, USB, and ATAPI (ATA).

Emulex is an active participant on T10 committees for both monitoring activity and proposing recommendations to ensure standards work for the benefit of industry players and end-users.

T11 is the technical committee within INCITS (www.incits.org) responsible for Device Level Interfaces. T11 has been producing interface standards for high-performance and mass storage applications since the 1970s.

Emulex is active within T11 on Fibre Channel and Storage Management working groups and makes significant contributions to the process and to the standards that arise out of the T11 organization.

Technical Committee T13 is responsible for all interface standards relating to the popular AT Attachment (ATA) storage interface utilized as the disk drive interface on most personal and mobile computers today. The charter of Technical Committee T13 is to provide a public forum for the development and enhancement of storage interface standards for high volume personal computers. This includes the development of the standard for new interfaces, such as Serial ATA.

Emulex is an active member of the T13 technical committee and participates in the advancement of newer standards.
