Emulex OneConnect FCoE UCNAs Selected by Fujitsu for PRIMERGY x86 Servers

Fujitsu's Dynamic Infrastructures Enhanced with Converged Networking Solutions from Emulex that Deliver Maximum IT Flexibility and Efficiency

COSTA MESA, Calif., June 16, 2010 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that its single-chip OneConnect™ Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) have been selected by Fujitsu for 10Gb/s Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) connectivity in Fujitsu PRIMERGY® rack servers. As part of Fujitsu's Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio, Emulex OneConnect UCNAs enable streamlined server and network provisioning, reduced network complexity and full hardware offload for maximum bandwidth and minimal CPU resource usage.

"Planning for a unified, converged data center that is streamlined, agile and efficient is a top priority for many IT managers today," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. "By working with Fujitsu we are able to offer solutions that deliver on customers' plans for tomorrow while providing a consolidated, yet dynamic, network and storage infrastructure with immediate cost savings today."

Emulex OneConnect UCNAs offer increased IT efficiency and agility by consolidating network and storage infrastructures and by increasing the number of virtual machines (VMs) that can be supported per server. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs deliver greater bandwidth and hardware protocol offload resulting in better server utilization, reduced hardware costs and increased operational efficiency.

"Emulex OneConnect UCNAs complement the value proposition behind our Dynamic Infrastructures approach, which includes a unified portfolio of data center solutions offering the highest levels of IT flexibility and efficiency," said Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President x86 Server Product Unit at Fujitsu Technology Solutions. "Together, Fujitsu and its partners, such as Emulex, are improving energy efficiency, reliability, virtualization optimization and ease of operation, while maximizing the future flexibility of Dynamic Infrastructures in our customers' data center."

Emulex's single-chip, high-performance OneConnect UCNA is the only server adapter with full hardware protocol offload support for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), iSCSI and FCoE; the world's fastest 10Gb/s Ethernet performance according to IT Brand Pulse; and the ability to efficiently consolidate network and storage infrastructures without changing management domains. As part of the Emulex vEngine™ technology, hardware offload and acceleration reduces server overhead and increases the number of VMs that can run on virtualized servers.

In addition, Emulex LightPulse® 4Gb/s and 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) are also available for use with PRIMERGY, SPARC Enterprise® and PRIMEQUEST® servers. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs and LightPulse HBAs both utilize Emulex's OneCommand™ Manager for secure, virtualized, automated and centralized enterprise management for deployment, dynamic provisioning, asset management, virtual I/O services, connectivity management, security, and quality of service for virtualized and converged networking environments.
