Emulex connectivity options include the HP NC551i Dual Port FlexFabric 10Gb Adapter and the HPNC551m Dual Port FlexFabric 10Gb Adapter mezzanine card for use in the new HP ProLiant G7 server blades, the HP StorageWorks CN1000E Dual Port Converged Network Adapter (CNA) for HP ProLiant rack and tower servers, the HP NC550SFP Dual Port 10Gb/s Server Adapter, and the HP NC550m Dual Port Flex-10 10Gb/s Ethernet Adapter for HP ProLiant blade servers. The Universal Local Area Network on Motherboard (ULOM) and UCNA technology is capable of running 10Gb Ethernet and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) or iSCSI concurrently. By selecting intelligent I/O solutions provided by Emulex, HP delivers high performance 10GbE I/O connectivity with the greatest protocol flexibility for a converged network environment as well as a rock-solid Fibre Channel suite of adapters for the perfect Storage Area Network (SAN) solution. With these intelligent I/O solutions, HP customers reduce operational expenses (OPEX) and capital expenses (CAPEX) through:

  • Flexible I/O connectivity - HP adapters based on Emulex technology support this open architecture using industry standards to simplify server and storage network connections, while providing seamless interoperability with existing core data center networks.  For every FlexFabric format, form factor and topology, HP has chosen adapters provided by Emulex for intelligent I/O.    In addition, with these adapters, HP customers can use FCoE, iSCSI or TCP/IP protocols with a Converged-Ready NIC for the same price as basic 10GbE NICs.

HP FlatSAN technology – Virtual Connect FlexFabric Direct Attach to HP 3PAR, Enabled by Emulex

The ability to directly attach HP 3PAR arrays to HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric modules in HP BladeSystem servers greatly simplifies how customers can connect HP storage to HP servers. The HP integrated FlexFabric technology provided by Emulex delivers 10GbE/FCoE connectivity for today’s intense I/O performance requirements, and enables HP Virtual Connect technology. With the introduction of Virtual Connect Direct Attach Fibre Channel you can eliminate half your SAN Fabric cost resulting in 86% fewer parts, 55% lower latency, and 2.5x faster provisioning. The end result reduces a complex multi-tier SAN infrastructure and flattens it into a Single Tier Flat SAN.
