The Emulex LP2105-CI is a multi-protocol Converged Network Adapter (CNA) made available in mezzanine card form factor to meet the consolidated connectivity requirements of the Cisco Unified Computing System. The dual-port LP2105-CI mezzanine CNA supports stateless offload of networking traffic and full offload of Fibre Channel protocol processing - thus enabling high performance server connectivity while improving the overall CPU utilization of the server.
Dynamic Bandwidth Management
The Emulex CNA supports provisioning of guaranteed bandwidth for different types of traffic carried over the converged Ethernet link. The capability to support configurable bandwidth to different traffic types enables IT administrators to support “deploy once” model of operation and thus dynamically assign bandwidth as per the requirements of the applications deployed in the server.
Enterprise Trusted Fibre Channel Functionality
The LP2105-CI uses proven silicon, firmware and drivers that leverage seven generations of Emulex Fibre Channel architecture and design improvements. The extensive interoperability of the Emulex CNA facilitates seamless extension of existing SAN infrastructure to the Cisco Unified Computing System platform.
Optimized for Server Virtualization
The LP2105-CI includes support for server virtualization optimizations across networking and Fibre Channel connectivity including support for N-Port ID Virtualization for scalable Fibre Channel connectivity in server virtualization environments. The efficiency of the adapter enables the CPU cycles in the system to be used for deploying more virtual machines per server.
Unified management across CNAs and HBAs
The LP2105-CI shares common tools and a consistent interface for deployment, discovery, operational and trouble shooting capabilities with Emulex LightPulse HBAs. The commonality of management across CNAs and existing HBA deployments helps retain existing SAN and networking best practices and improves number of servers managed per administrator.
Emulex’s management framework complies with Open Management Standards, such as SMI-S and common HBA API support, which enables seamless upward integration into enterprise storage and server management solutions.
