Network Appliance Qualifies Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs to Create High-Performance Fibre Channel SANs

Emulex Builds on Long-Term Relationship Helping NetApp Customers Meet Their Storage Connectivity Needs

COSTA MESA, Calif., June 21, 2006 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the most trusted name in storage networking connectivity solutions, today announced that Network Appliance (NASDAQ:NTAP) has qualified and will resell Emulex's family of LightPulse® LP11000 4Gb/s PCI-X host bus adapters (HBAs). NetApp customers can leverage fully qualified Emulex PCI-X and PCI Express HBAs to attach servers to NetApp® based Fibre Channel (FC) storage area networks (SANs). Emulex HBAs provide the increased performance and availability required for transferring critical data, and also simplifies complex data management environments, via its unique software suite, HBAnyware®.

This qualification signifies immediate availability of the Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs for use with NetApp Fabric-Attached Storage (FAS) series of storage solutions. The qualified solutions from Emulex include the LP11000 single- and dual-channel PCI-X HBAs (NetApp models X1086A-R6, X1087A-R6) and the LPe11000 single- and dual-channel PCI-Express HBAs. NetApp SAN storage systems are ideal for customers that must quickly develop, transfer or analyze large amounts of data. The next-generation SAN technology gives customers the higher performance they need, with better reliability, backward compatibility and seamless migration to next-generation storage solutions.
