Emulex Showcases Advanced Connectivity and Management Solutions for VMware Environments at VMworld 2008
WHAT:
At VMworld, September 15-18, 2008, Emulex will be demonstrating the use of its Virtual Adapter technology in enabling a seamless migration of virtual machines over 4Gb/s and 8Gb/s Fibre Channel, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) storage networking topologies using VMotion running on a combination of blade and rack mount servers. Emulex will also be showcasing new features of its HBAnyware® management suite for VMware virtualized environments and a new Emulex in-box CIM provider available for VMware ESXi, in its booth, #428.
Emulex HBAnyware provides comprehensive control of Emulex LightPulse® Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) and FCoE Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) within a centralized, cross-platform framework. This new release adds virtual port discovery and management, the ability to pre-stage boot from SAN while the server is still online and a reporting capability that gives IT administrators the ability to generate customized reports.
Emulex has also delivered an in-box CIM provider that is now shipping with the latest release of VMware ESXi. With this infrastructure in place, third parties can enhance their applications to discover and manage Emulex HBAs and CNAs, giving users a broad choice of management software for administering their SAN environments.
In addition, Emulex's LightPulse FCoE Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) are being used exclusively as part of Cisco's converged network demonstration in the Cisco booth #918. Emulex LightPulse 8Gb/s Fibre Channel HBAs are also being featured in demonstrations in both the AMD (#1208) and IBM (#908) booths.
