Emulex Certified for Juniper Networks QFX3500

Announces Support for Juniper Networks' New QFX3500 Switches

COSTA MESA, Calif., February 24, 2011 – Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the leader in converged networking solutions, today announced support for Juniper Networks®  QFX3500 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GbE) switches. The Emulex OneConnect™ family of Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs), have been tested and certified as fully interoperable with the new Juniper QFX3500 switches, including support for Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) networked storage.

Emulex's OneConnect family of single-chip, high-performance 10GbE multi-function adapters are ideal for Juniper's customers who are looking for a flexible, standards-based, fully optimized solution for enterprise, data center and low-latency data and storage networking applications.

"Juniper's vision for the next generation data center is indicative of the continued shift towards multi-protocol requirements by customers that want the flexibility to run their storage and network traffic concurrently, no matter what standards they support," said Shaun Walsh, vice president of marketing, Emulex. "Emulex OneConnect UCNAs offer a critical standards-based approach for customers deploying the new Juniper switch, which means they can deploy our joint solution today to build a high-performance highly adaptable data center infrastructure across any protocol and still leverage their existing IT investments."

The Emulex family of OneConnect UCNAs are available today for use with the new Juniper switches, including 10GbE network adapters, iSCSI adapters and FCoE UCNAs, giving customers the flexibility to leverage the connectivity solution that best meets their needs. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs provide optimized 10GbE network performance with Emulex vEngine™ technology. Emulex vEngine technology offers full hardware protocol offload support for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), iSCSI and FCoE and optimizes virtualized servers with support for the latest NIC virtualization techniques, including Multichannel and Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV)-based solutions. The end result is up to 20% more virtual machines per server. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs also reduce capital and operational expenses, with 30% savings on adapters and switches, 80% savings on cables and 40% savings on power and cooling.

"Emulex falls directly in line with our vision for a simplified data center which offers benefits to converged environments whether FCoE or iSCSI, Juniper’s QFabric offers the performance and operational simplicity of a single switch with the scale and resilience and flexibility to support fully converged and virtualized data center environments," said Andy Ingram, vice president product marketing, Fabric and Switching, Juniper Networks. "We look forward to continued collaboration with Emulex to provide the broadest range of connectivity solutions that incorporate our new data center switches, so customers can take immediate benefit of these tested and proven solutions to enable their high-powered data center environments."

The convergence of network and storage traffic helps IT organizations keep pace by deploying a new advanced network architecture integrated into servers which is more coherent, flexible, and agile than today’s 10GbE-only networks.
