Emulex Embedded Storage Bridges Selected by Fujitsu Limited for FC-to-SATA Connectivity within ETERNUS® Storage Systems

Emulex's Enterprise Storage System Embedded Expertise Provides Customers with a Turnkey Multi-Protocol Tiered Storage Solution

COSTA MESA, Calif., December 3, 2007 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that its BR-2401 embedded storage bridges are now shipping in Fujitsu Limited's ETERNUS® family of disk storage systems. The Emulex BR-2401 solution enables low-cost SATA drives to be used transparently within existing Fibre Channel enclosures, reducing the development time required to bring a FC-to-SATA tiered storage solution to market.

"Emulex's versatile bridging technology provides SATA hard disk drive (HDD) connectivity that allows our OEM customers, such as Fujitsu, to leverage their investments in Fibre Channel, saving time and money," said Bob Whitson, senior vice president and general manager, Embedded Storage Products, Emulex Corp. "This design win signifies the continued adoption of our embedded storage products as the most effective method for deploying SATA disk drives within Fibre Channel-based enterprise storage environments."

The Emulex BR-2401 is a highly integrated FC-to-SATA storage bridge, which may be deployed as a chip- or circuit board-level solution. Designed to provide transparent emulation of Fibre Channel disk drives, the Emulex BR-2401 enables our customers to deliver a versatile, low-cost storage solution that meets the high capacity needs of the enterprise. The Emulex BR-2401 enables the insertion of SATA HDDs into any Fibre Channel drive slot or shelf within a storage system. Emulex's proven FC-to-SATA bridging technology is the industry's leading solution, with over 80 percent of the top storage vendors deploying Emulex's embedded storage bridges.

"By combining Emulex's BR-2401-based multi-protocol tiered storage interposer circuit board with Fujitsu's ETERNUS storage systems, we are able to offer customers a unrestricted freedom of inter-mixing Fibre Channel and SATA disk drives within the same enclosure, allowing for maximum system flexibility," said Tetsuro Kudo, general manager, Storage Systems Division, Storage Systems Unit, Fujitsu Limited. "Emulex's enterprise storage systems embedded expertise complements our advanced ETERNUS family of storage solutions by enhancing flexibility and cost effectiveness for our customers."
