Emulex CNA Demonstrates Strong Showing of Interoperability at Fibre Channel over Ethernet FCIA Plugfest

Participation Showcases Emulex's Industry-Leading Virtualization Capabilities within FCoE Environments

COSTA MESA, Calif., September 23, 2008 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced results from its recent participation in a Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) plugfest hosted by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) last week at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL). Emulex tested its LightPulse® family of LP21000 FCoE Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) on a number of different platforms, successfully showcasing strong interoperability with all participating companies, while also demonstrating its LightPulse Virtual HBA technology with N-Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) support over FCoE.

During the plugfest, Emulex tested its CNAs in a variety of configurations to showcase successful interoperability through FCoE devices from multiple vendors to native FCoE storage and across a Fibre Channel SAN to Fibre Channel targets from multiple vendors. Additional testing of Emulex's industry-standard NPIV implementation over a large number of virtual ports resulted in successful interoperability across the FCoE fabric to native Fibre Channel storage.

"Given the evolutionary nature of FCoE and its leverage of enterprise-proven Fibre Channel technology, the plugfest showed significant maturity at this stage of the technology cycle," said Joe Gervais, senior director of product marketing, Emulex Corporation. "We are very pleased with the results of the interoperability testing at the FCIA FCoE plugfest, especially since it helped demonstrate the robust nature of Emulex's FCoE CNA products and further demonstrated Emulex's long-standing expertise in delivering virtualization capabilities such as NPIV support."

Emulex CNAs leverage eight generations of field-proven Fibre Channel technology, allowing companies to extend their Fibre Channel investments while deploying a next-generation unified fabric in their data centers. Emulex CNAs also support Emulex Virtual HBA technology, including NPIV support, which allows end users to effectively 'virtualize' the SAN connection so that each virtual machine has independent access to its own protected storage.
