Emulex Participating in the FCIA Plugfest with New LightPulse® 16Gb Fibre Channel HBAs
COSTA MESA, Calif., October 24, 2011 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced it is participating in the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) plugfest with its recently introduced LightPulse® 16Gb Fibre Channel (16GFC) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs). The FCIA Fibre Channel Over Ethernet and 16GFC Plugfest will be held October 24-28 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) and represents the first time 16GFC will be tested concurrently with Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE).
The plugfest will take place October 24 - 28 at the UNH-IOL, where cable, data center operators, Fibre Channel (FC), and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) device vendors will have the industry's first opportunity to test against the recently ratified 16GFC standard in a neutral, multi-vendor environment. Backwards compatible with previous Fibre Channel standards, 16GFC protects existing storage infrastructure investments. Interoperability testing of FCoE devices will also be performed at the plugfest.
Emulex has long been a leader in delivering Fibre Channel connectivity and the Company's ninth generation of Fibre Channel adapters will be leveraged for this plugfest. Emulex's 16GFC adapters deliver over one million I/O per second (IOPS) on a single port, enabling high-performance I/O for high density, business-critical cloud and virtualized data centers. The new LPe16000 HBAs are based on the Emulex Engine™ (XE)201 I/O Controller (IOC), the industry's first and only quad-port converged fabric controller that supports 16GFC and up to 40Gb Ethernet (40GbE)-based network convergence.
