Emulex OneConnect FCoE UCNAs Now Available from Hitachi Data Systems Universal Storage Platform and Adaptable Modular Storage Systems

Emulex OneConnect UCNAs Resold by Hitachi Data Systems Reduces Network Complexity and Delivers Proven Emulex Connectivity

COSTA MESA, Calif., April 20, 2010 – Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the FCoE adapter market share leader according to Infonetics, today announced that its single-chip OneConnect™ Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) has been certified and is now available for use with the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform® and Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage families of storage systems. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs enable customers to efficiently consolidate network and storage infrastructures without changing management domains.

“IT managers are facing a myriad challenges in today's complex data center environments,” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. “Emulex and Hitachi Data Systems are delivering network convergence solutions that help simplify data center infrastructure, increase IT efficiency and improve business agility.”

“Our customers require solutions that control costs, deliver operational efficiency and improved IT responsiveness,” said Asim Zaheer, vice president of corporate and product marketing, Hitachi Data Systems. “Emulex’s FCoE UCNAs help us meet the evolving needs of our joint customers as they deploy network convergence solutions to meet their operational goals.”

Emulex’s single-chip, high-performance OneConnect UCNA is the only server adapter with full hardware protocol offload support for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), iSCSI and FCoE; the world’s fastest 10Gb/s Ethernet performance according to IT Brand Pulse™; and the ability to efficiently consolidate network and storage infrastructures without changing management domains. As part of the Emulex vEngine™ technology, hardware offload and acceleration reduces server overhead and increases the number of virtual machines that can run on virtualized servers.

In addition, Emulex LightPulse® 4Gb/s and 8Gb/s Fibre Channel (Host Bus Adapters) HBAs are also qualified for use with Hitachi Universal Storage Platform and Adaptable Modular Storage families of storage systems. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs and LightPulse HBAs utilize Emulex’s OneCommand™ Manager for secure, virtualized, automated and centralized enterprise management for deployment, dynamic provisioning, asset management, virtual I/O services, connectivity management, security, and quality of service for virtualized and converged networking environments.
