The CMO Institute Names Emulex CMO Steve Daheb One of the Top 10 CMOs of 2009
Institute Recognizes Daheb for Vision and Leadership in Rebranding the Company
COSTA MESA, Calif., April 22, 2010 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that the Chief Marketing Officer Institute has named Steve Daheb, Emulex CMO and senior vice president of business development, as one of the top 10 Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) of 2009 in this year's CMO of the Year awards. Daheb was recognized for his vision and leadership in rebranding and repositioning Emulex, by driving new corporate, channel, product and communications marketing strategies.
"I am honored to be recognized by the CMO Institute," said Steve Daheb, CMO and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. "This isn't an individual award. This award recognizes the incredibly hard work of the entire company who executed on our vision and provided a strong foundation of innovation and product leadership. I want to thank my team, as I believe that our marketing and communications programs have been instrumental in raising our visibility and tightening our rapport with customers, igniting our growth, and helping us establish a leadership position in new markets. I also want to thank my management who supported us in doing something different."
Recognizing that the storage networking industry was on the verge of a major shift, Steve utilized the opportunity to rebrand, reposition and establish the company as a thought leader by openly talking about Emulex's vision and the future of the industry. During his first year with the company, Steve and his team leveraged a combination of an aggressive social media campaign, public launch events, a more strongly-aligned and integrated marketing and communications team, and the creation of a unified message relevant to all audiences, including customers, investors, partners and the public.
"This recognition of Steve is even more significant given this award covers all industries and companies in North America," said Jeff Benck, chief operations officer, Emulex. "Emulex made a conscious decision to invest in our sales and marketing efforts through the recent economic downturn so we would emerge a better, stronger and even more relevant company. It's great to see Steve and his team now recognized for bringing Emulex's product innovation, strategy and forward-focused vision into the spotlight at a pivotal time for the company and the industry."
The Chief Marketing Officer awards recognize executives for best practices that transcend industry and technology boundaries and for demonstrating outstanding leadership across various disciplines of the marketing field. This year's honorees - which include marketers that overcame difficult economic headwinds to produce impressive results - were evaluated across several categories of performance, including: market orientation and customer intimacy, accountability for results, commitment to innovation and overall contribution to the success of their company.
