COSTA MESA, Calif., May 7, 2008 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE: ELX) today announced the AeA honored President and Chief Executive Officer Jim McCluney as the winner of the prestigious "CEO of the Year" award. McCluney was recognized for his achievements in 2007, notably, diversifying the company, leading Emulex to its ninth consecutive year of revenue growth, and for his role advancing innovation in Emulex's industry.
"AeA was very pleased with the high-quality of nominations and the level of innovation was truly impressive," said Don Hicks, executive director, AeA Orange County/Inland Empire. "AeA congratulates Jim McCluney and Emulex Corporation for the effort and innovation displayed this year."
The "CEO of the Year" award is presented to the CEO of a technology company headquartered in Orange County who drives technological innovation. In addition to this prominent award, McCluney was also named CEO of the year by the Technology Council of Southern California, and a "Person to Watch" in 2007 by the Orange County Business Journal.
With more than 30 years of experience in the high technology sector, McCluney has served as an officer of Emulex since 2003, adding the role of president and chief executive officer in September 2006. Under his leadership, Emulex has diversified its business and experienced strong financial execution as illustrated by Emulex's most recently reported quarter. McCluney also remains active in the community and currently serves as a member of the UC Irvine CEO Roundtable and a board member of The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine.
"It is an honor to be chosen by the AeA Technology Council as 'CEO of the Year' from such a large group of highly qualified CEOs and technology companies in Southern California," McCluney said. "Our success in 2007 is a testament to the smart planning and tireless execution of the more than 800 Emulex employees around the world. Their commitment and dedication, coupled with our diversification, revenue and market share growth, has been key to delivering to our customers the technologies needed to help them address pain points related to server virtualization, tiered storage and data center consolidation and convergence. With our focus on these trends, we have become the preferred partner and supplier to the world's top-tier OEMs and our products are deployed by more 95 percent of the Fortune 100."
The AeA High-Tech Awards is traditionally Orange County's premier tech industry event that presents the major players in local innovation and global competitiveness. The 2008 awards were presented during a gala dinner ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Irvine on April 29, 2008.
