Jim McCluney Honored for Emulex's Outstanding Performance in 2007 and for Advancing Technology Innovation in Southern California

COSTA MESA, Calif., February 28, 2008 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE: ELX) today announced the Technology Council of Southern California has named its President and Chief Executive Officer Jim McCluney, the winner of the prestigious "CEO of the Year" award. McCluney will be honored at the 14th Annual Technology Industry Awards gala this evening in Los Angeles. McCluney was recognized for his achievements, such as diversifying the company and leading Emulex to its ninth consecutive year of revenue growth, and for his role advancing technological innovation in Southern California.

"With a successful strategy for growth and diversification based on two acquisitions, Jim McCluney has guided Emulex to expand into new markets, ensure innovation, and accelerate revenue growth," said Catrina Luedtke, executive director of The Technology Council of Southern California. "His vision and leadership have been recognized by our panel of judges because he has helped his company to stand at the forefront of technology innovation, serving as an example for the Southern California technology community."

In addition to this prominent award, McCluney was also named a "Person to Watch" in 2007 by the Orange County Business Journal.

With more than 30 years of experience in the high technology sector, McCluney has served as an officer of Emulex since 2003, adding the role of president and chief executive officer in September 2006. Under his leadership, Emulex has diversified its business and experienced strong financial execution as illustrated by Emulex's most recently reported quarter, which was the highest in the company's 30-year history. McCluney also remains active in the community and currently serves as a member of the UC Irvine CEO Roundtable and a board member of The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine.

"It is an honor to be chosen by the Technology Council as 'CEO of the Year' from such a large group of highly qualified CEOs and technology companies in Southern California," said Jim McCluney, president and CEO, Emulex Corporation. "Our success in 2007 is a testament to the smart planning and tireless execution of the more than 800 Emulex employees around the world. Their commitment and dedication, coupled with our diversification, revenue and market share growth, has been key to delivering to our customers the technologies needed to help them address pain points related to server virtualization, tiered storage and data center consolidation and convergence.
