Emulex 8Gb/s HBAs Selected for Use within New HP SAN Starter Kit
Emulex LightPulse HBAs and Management Tools for Simple SAN Deployment in Virtualized Server Environments Employed in HP StorageWorks EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit
COSTA MESA, Calif., September 29, 2008 - Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that its LightPulse® 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) have been selected for integration with the new HP StorageWorks EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit. This offering provides customers with a powerful, affordable and easy-to-deploy SAN solution for virtualized server environments.
"Emulex 8Gb/s HBAs deliver the increased bandwidth and improved scalability needed to support virtualized servers and growing mission-critical data loads," said Scott McIntyre, vice president of product marketing, Emulex. "The combination of Emulex LightPulse HBAs and the HBAnyware management suite, with the new HP StorageWorks SAN Starter Kit, provides end users with higher performance, enterprise-class SAN management and advanced virtualization features, all at an affordable price."
Designated a Microsoft Simple SAN solution, the HP StorageWorks EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit makes it easier for IT administrators to deploy and install first-time SAN infrastructures. Leveraging Emulex's advanced LightPulse Virtual HBA technology, the solution enables customers to effectively "virtualize" their SAN connections, leading to more efficient host utilization and compliance with SAN management best practices.
"Midsize businesses are able to reduce cost by creating a virtualized SAN infrastructure that is easier to manage with solutions, such as the new HP StorageWorks EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit," said Kyle Fitze, director of marketing, Storage Platforms Division, HP. "The EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit with Emulex's 8Gb/s HBA enables customers to maximize their current technology investments by improving capacity utilization, which allows IT managers to handle even the most demanding storage requirements."
The HP EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit will be available in early October. There are two SAN Starter Kit configurations and both are offered in field installed and factory integrated versions. For more information on Emulex connectivity solutions for HP, visit: www.emulex.com/hp/index.jsp.
