Emulex Showcases Industry-First Demonstrations at Interop Las Vegas

Demonstrating Next-Generation 40Gb/s Ethernet, 10GBASE-T and 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Adapter Technology

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 5, 2011 – Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that it will be showcasing several next-generation  demonstrations at Interop Las Vegas next week, highlighting the recently announced Emulex XE201 I/O Controller, which provides customers a common platform for 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GbE) or 40Gb/s Ethernet (40GbE) deployments.

Emulex will be demonstrating the following:

  • Industry-first public demonstration of next-generation 40Gb/s Ethernet (40GbE) Universal Converged Network Adapter (UCNA) technology: Emulex is showcasing 40GbE connectivity on the XE201, where the XE201 will connect servers together over a 40GbE network link utilizing the 40GbE QSFP interface.  Traffic will be generated, verified and measured for performance using industry standard test tools. Force10 Networks is a partner in the demonstration with their top-of-rack S-Series™ ultra-low latency S4810™ access switch. This demonstration will be in Emulex booth #743.

  • Emulex OneConnect™ 10GBASE-T UCNA technology preview: This demonstration will preview the next-generation Emulex OneConnect 10GBASE-T UCNA, which adds to the Emulex family of multi-protocol 10GbE adapters. It will highlight network peer devices connecting to a 10GbE network using the Emulex OneConnect 10GBASE-T UCNA which will connect to an Extreme Networks Summit X650 10GBASE-T switch. This demonstration will be in Emulex booth #743.

  • Technology preview of 16Gb/s Fibre Channel: In tandem with a demonstration at EMC World, Emulex and JDSU will showcase a true end-to-end 16Gb/s Fibre Channel link by utilizing the XE201as an initiator server adapter connected to a target mode device based on another XE201 interface. The demonstration is connected through a JDSU Xgig 5000 chassis with its new 16Gb/s Fibre Channel multi-functional blade. As the industry's first available and only complete test solution for 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, the JDSU Xgig 5000 monitors 16Gb/s Fibre Channel activities with error-free I/O connectivity. This demonstration will take place in JDSU booth #2429.
