Emulex Delivers Converged I/O for HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers

Posted March 7th, 2012 by Janice Owens

HP has just unveiled its next generation HP ProLiant Gen8 platform that accelerates server market transformation – in addition to being self-sufficient, this new platform is enabled with industry leading I/O, making them incredibly fast and flexible. Supported by Emulex OneConnect® technology, the HP ProLiant Gen8 platform delivers a converged I/O that includes FlexFabric, Flex-10, iSCSI and Fibre Channel. This broad choice in I/O connectivity delivers high value (all-in-one) connectivity, providing HP customers with convergence-ready, integrated Ethernet, FCoE or iSCSI connectivity solutions on a single-chip solution. In addition, this flexibility allows HP customers to leverage their existing infrastructure, while providing a seamless, future-proof path for future expansion.

Emulex I/O Connectivity Solutions for HP ProLiant Server Blades
Emulex is providing new 10GbE dual-port modular LAN on motherboard (LOM), converged network adapter (CNA) and network interface card (NIC) solutions for the new HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blade, including the HP 554FLB FlexFabric LOM Adapter, HP 554M FlexFabric Mezzanine Adapter and HP 552M Flex-10 Mezzanine Adapter.

The HP 554FLB and 554M FlexFabric Adapters allow 10Gb ports to be divided into multiple NIC and storage functions to converge network and storage traffic for 10GbE and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), helping clients reduce networking complexity, lower technology costs and promote a green data center. The HP 552M Flex-10 Adapter allows 10Gb ports to be divided into multiple NIC functions to optimize bandwidth allocation for virtualized server workloads.
