Viva Las Vegas – Dell FRS 2010!

Emulex recently joined our friends at the Dell Field Readiness Seminar in Las Vegas. We worked with hundreds of Dell representatives coming to Vegas from all over the globe to “get ready to rumble!” The announcer guy from the wrestling circuit was actually at the FRS pumping up the crowd. Emulex of course took full advantage of this situation and organized a massive networking event.

Monday through Thursday we all worked together to discuss this awesome year we are about to have. Here I am working with one of my fellow Emulex co-workers and one of our advertising agents. We have changed his identity to protect his innocence…Dan Blizinski. We were joined at this event by 5 awesome partners who made this our best FRS ever. This method of advertising proved successful. We hit a state of “crowd capacity” at the aforementioned networking event. As in the movie the Hangover, waking up in Vegas the next morning, can be a little frightening and I found the following image on my BlackBerry, I’m not sure exactly who it is or what it means:

Peanut Butter and Chocolate

A certain candy company had the genius to put those “two great tastes” together and the rest is history. Emulex and Dell have convergent goals and we go great together. Dell has been and is currently engineering storage and server solutions to meet the demanding needs of data centers that are trying to make the most of their floor space.

A common conversation right now is centered around convergence. Not only of Networking and Storage protocols, but in the convergence of resources. In a data center you want to converge or consolidate more resources into a smaller footprint. This is where the story starts getting really sweet.
